COVID-19: Advice for travelers to and from China – Liechtenstein
VADUZ/PEKING – After moving away from the zero-Covid policy at the beginning of December 2022 and the end of entry restrictions on January 8, China is currently experiencing a massive corona wave, “although the number of cases reported by official bodies probably no longer realistically reflects the pandemic ยป, writes the Ministry of Society and Culture in the press release on Friday. Travel advice is now available from the Public Health Office.
According to the European Center for Disease Control (ECDC), the variants currently circulating in China are already widespread in Europe and therefore currently do not pose a direct threat to EU/EEA citizens due to the relative vaccination coverage or immunization through a past Covid-19 disease represent.
Nevertheless, it is difficult to assess how the situation will continue to develop. “With such a high virus circulation, the occurrence of further mutations of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is also to be expected,” the ministry notes. Several countries have therefore already taken precautionary measures against travelers. According to the broadcast, there are currently no restrictions for travelers from China in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
The European Commission has made relevant information available to its member states. These interested parties can be found on the Department of Health website. The information includes recommendations for compliance with precautionary measures when traveling to regions with high transmission rates of SARS-CoV-2, for completing the vaccination status, for wearing masks (FFP2 masks for vulnerable passengers) during the journey and for complying with the hygiene rules that continue to apply.
