Avignon. Two exhibitions to discover places of local power

In order to bring the public to the places of decision, the Departmental Archives of Vaucluse have set up a exposure which traces the history of two buildings that house local power: the prefecture and the seat of the departmentlocated Viala street.
Mansions confiscated during the Revolution
Thus, from January 16 to March 17, 2023Avignonnais and Avignonnaises are invited to go to the reception hall of the Archives at the Popes’ Palace where documents, photos and plans of the buildings will be exhibited.
The opportunity to (re)discover the history of these departmental institutionscreated between the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century.
The logic of the time was not no building but to invest buildings existing ones that had been confiscated during the Revolution and which had become national property, including mansions. Some have been the subject of numerous Pitchesacquisitions and development work during the 19th century.
