Bulgaria opens a consulate in Leipzig
Consulate in Leipzig, Germany will open Bulgaria. To be headed by Heiko Schmidt, the Council of Ministers decided today.
Eng. Heiko Schmidt is a long-time and active member of the management board of the German-Bulgarian Forum and a member of the German-Bulgarian Society in Leipzig. Consistently supports the development of economic contacts of local and regional creation. For the past 20 years, Mr. Heiko Schmidt has developed a successful business in Bulgaria and supports the establishment of business and the economic structure of his own companies in Bulgaria and Saxony. It participates in non-profit associations, in-depth activities aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, as well as in joint projects between Bulgarian and German universities, providing scholarships and internships for Bulgarian students at the University of Leipzig, as well as the opportunity for postgraduate qualification in Bulgarian graduates to deepen their practical experience and knowledge. He speaks the Bulgarian language fluently and shows a permanent presence among German-speaking entrepreneurs in Bulgaria, as well as by supporting the establishment of Bulgarian investors in Germany, in the field of the food industry, agriculture and the environment. He is the coordinator of the German Association for Sustainability and Environmental Management, Bulgaria section. Actively supports organizationally and financially the activity of the Bulgarian school in the city of Leipzig.
The government believes that with the regulation of the network of primary consuls of the Republic of Bulgaria on the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany with the appointment of one more honorary consul, with headquarters in the federal province of Saxony, in which Bulgaria does not have a professional diplomatic representation, it will contribute positively to the development of bilateral relations in a number of areas of mutual interest.
