ANA finances isolation of hospitals and schools to reduce aircraft noise in Lisbon and Loures – Observer
ANA Aeroportos announced this Tuesday that it will proceed with funding to insulate the facades of 22 particularly sensitive buildings in the municipalities of Lisbon and Loures, including schools and hospitals, to reduce the impact of aircraft noise.
“We are going to start this year with the insulation of the facades of sensitive buildings”announced the executive chairman of the Vinci group airport manager, Thierry Ligonnière, in a hearing in the Assembly of the Republic, at the request of the PSD parliamentary group.
Even so, ANA argues that the financing of this measure to mitigate aircraft noise in isolated areas should be controlled by the polluter-pays principle, that is, through the application of a fee to airlines or the allocation of funds from the Environmental Tax.
According to the official, ANA will proceed with the financing of the isolation of 22 particularly sensitive buildings, in the municipalities of Lisbon and Loures, covering two schools, two nurseries, 11 units of the Centro Hospitalar Psiquiátrico de Lisboa, two buildings of the ISCTE – Instituto University of Lisbon, a pavilion of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon, a study academy, two health buildings and a Youth Support Centre.
