“What does the City intend to do?”
The case of the frequent discoveries of the so-called “fried sponges” – the lethal morsels for dogs – in recent months has ended up in the city council: councilor Federico Barbieri of Genoa Tomorrow asked the council for measures.
“These are fried sponges that are often fatal for our four-legged friends – says Barbieri -. I see in this situation a serious social problem if we even go as far as to want the physical elimination of these creatures. I ask what type of strategy the Municipality has intention to undertake to buffer. I remain available to any tables that want to open to try to manage the situation by also implementing the dog areas”.
The councilor for animals Francesca Corso distinguished the two topics: “It is one thing to abandon poisoned meatballs, the other is the management of the areas of degambamento. The councilor was not aware of the latest reports, which never arrived in the Municipality , but he informed the local police that it is the competent body for these criminal behaviors. The controls of the public force are now the only tool we have to buffer a phenomenon that unfortunately has existed for some time. of criminals who know the consequences of their gestures, I wouldn’t know how to sensitize them”.
As far as dog areas are concerned, “we can work on further incentives to use walking areas to discourage attitudes that can annoy these criminals, in any case not justifiable. I had written to the presidents of the Municipalities to find out what the current areas were for letting dogs go each territory, we can try to implement them even if it is then a matter of finding people and associations to entrust them to, who keep them clean. Councilor Barbieri reiterated his willingness to continue the subject.
