Sporting showed from the outset that it had not come for tourism on a ground where its coach had covered himself with glory 10 years ago by bringing the local team to the final of the Coupe de France.
In the space of four minutes, in fact, Lemaitre, the local goalkeeper, had to work on a recovery from Alfarela requested by Van den Kherhof then it was Guidi’s turn after a corner from Kaïboué to find the Normande crossbar.
The local retort came fifteen minutes into the game. Mafouta launched by Bangré managed to eliminate Placide but Bramé kept watch and allowed the Bastia team, which always won against Quevilly-Rouen, to keep a clean sheet. But not for long.
A few seconds later after a bad Corsican raise, Gbellé served Mafouta who only had to adjust Placide!
Sporting de Brouard could not stop there. Indeed, after a resumption of Gbellé who missed out, Tavares made himself appreciate all his qualities, but Lemaitre, with the end of the gloves, opposed his attempt.
With the approach of the break, Sporting regained the hair of the beast but not all its spirits otherwise, how to explain this monumental failure of Alfarela who in ideal position to equalize, after having erased Lemaitre, missed the Norman cage yet wide open!
It is quite obvious that Bastia could not stop there.
In fact, a few minutes after the restart, Kaïboué managed to cross in front of Lemaitre’s goal, Santelli managed to cut the trajectory of the ball allowing the Corsicans to get back into the game.
Alferela for the first time then Van den Kerkhof on a free kick then tried to take over the direction of the game as he had done from the kick-off, but success was not on their side.
It was believed, however, that thanks to the exclusion of Pierret, guilty of elbowing Santelli in an aerial duel, Sporting would take advantage of his numerical superiority to sign a 5th consecutive success against QRM, but these are still the locals who showed themselves to be the most enterprising through Soumaré still Gbellé, but the first missed the target and the second did not manage to mislead Placide.
Brouard therefore decided to throw Bonhert, his latest recruit, and Djoco into the mix.
But despite 6 minutes of added time, the mark should no longer be estimated.
QRM will still have to wait before pretending to beat Bastia!
