Rugby World Cup in Toulouse: fear of the black market
While an investigation is opened on ticket traffic at the very heart of the organization, the platform for the sale of tickets to individuals will open.
The example does not come from above. When the Rugby World Cup ticket sales platform is about to be created on January 24, the investigations of the Paris financial prosecutor’s office have just brought to light the dark practices of a privileged few and personalities with seats at the title of the France 2023 organization that they bought in large numbers to resell them… Obviously illegal practices which raise fears of an explosion of the black market around the event awaited by the entire oval planet next September. Certainly, apart from the arrival of the All Blacks at the Stadium, the five (modest) posters offered to Toulouse (1) should not give rise to a financial one-upmanship, but the organizers want to be vigilant.
A secure platform
“The platform is set up to ensure secure sales, and thus allow supporters around the world to buy and resell tickets in complete peace of mind,” we explain. From this Thursday, individuals could start offering their places purchased from 2021 on this platform at a unit price which must meet the price list. No speculation, nor profits therefore to be expected on the only official site approved for this type of transaction. “It is also strictly forbidden to sell or transfer tickets on websites, around the stadium or within its enclosure in any form whatsoever, for a fee or free of charge, tickets reserved for the sole use of the buyer” , recalls France 2023. An offense which can be punished by a fine of €15,000 or even €30,000 in the event of a repeat offense. It’s hard to think despite everything that little tricksters won’t be in ambush as always around this kind of event. We are already talking about tickets bought for €300 and tripled in revenue… not to mention fake tickets. Business is business.
