- Further monetary donations of more than 10,000 euros to local charity associations around Nestlé factories.
- Around 50 full trucks with food donated nationwide.
- Help from more than 200 Nestlé employees at the Frankfurter Tafel.
Nestlé Germany supports the work of the Tafel in Frankfurt with a monetary donation of 10,000 euros. The symbolic donation check was handed over by Human Resources Director Ralf Hengels (left) and confectionery manager Carmen Borsche (2nd from right) as part of their volunteer work at the Bonames table. There she worked a shift and helped the Tafel team distribute food to people in need.
Nestlé actively continues long-standing Tafel partnership
As part of its long-standing Tafel partnership, Nestlé is continuously involved with various aids in the vicinity of its German locations.
In addition to the five-figure donation to the Frankfurter Tafel, Nestlé-Werke also donated over 10,000 euros to local Tafel associations in 2022. In addition, there were around 50 full trucks nationwide with groceries, for example from Maggi and Wagner.
Over 200 employees at Nestlé’s Frankfurt headquarters are also getting involved with the local distribution points of the Frankfurter Tafel for the third time. In the winter months from November up to and including February, they take over shifts at the locations in Bonames, Bornheim, Höchst, Preungesheim, Rödelheim, Sachsenhausen, Seckbach as well as in the train station and Gallus quarters and support the volunteers on site.
The need for support and the number of people affected by poverty are increasing
In 2022, the Ukraine war and the tense economic situation meant that more people than ever before were dependent on food aid from the Tafel. Around two million people affected by poverty counted Tafel Deutschland eV among their nationwide customers last year. Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine and the price increases, around two-thirds of the food banks have seen their customers increase by up to 50 percent. In addition to refugees from Ukraine, the unemployed, those with low incomes and pensioners are currently particularly dependent on support from the Federal Association.
“We are currently experiencing socially very challenging times, in which there is a high demand everywhere, but sometimes declining food donations. We are very grateful that donations from companies like Nestlé allow us to continue our offer and help people in need. The positive cooperation and the contact with the people at Nestlé, who support us in our daily work, are an important part of our cooperation,” says Rainer Häusler, Chairman of the Frankfurter Tafel eV.
For Ralf Hengels, Head of Human Resources at Nestlé in Germany, commitment is a matter of honour: “Solidarity and social responsibility are part of our DNA at Nestlé. That’s why we not only donate, but also support the personal commitment of colleagues who want to volunteer. What makes me personally very happy: there are more and more every year! My greatest respect and thanks go to all organizations such as the Tafel with their time or donations – both regularly and selectively. Because every help counts.”
