Euroleague: Olympiakos with its fans in Monaco
Olympiakos challenges AS Monaco this Tuesday evening at Gaston-Médecin. Both teams share pole position with Spaniards Barça, Real and Vitoria. Greek coach Giorgios Bartzokas shared his thoughts with the media in his country and indicated that supporters of his team are traveling.
“I think we’re in the middle of a year where everyone is trying to improve. We are also trying to improve our team game. When the conditions allow it, we play well. There are also times when we didn’t play well and we paid the price. An example is the game against Monaco in the first round, where after four consecutive victories, including three in Spain – if I remember correctly – we underestimated the game, we did not play as we probably should (Editor’s note: Monaco had won in Piraeus, 76-81). This is our priority. Let’s play well to win such a game. »
Regarding the value of the Roca Team, he argued:
“I don’t think it’s difficult just for Olympiakos, it’s difficult for all teams. They have a great capacity for isolation. That is to say, players like Elie Okobo and Mike James, when isolated, are very good. There is athletics among the big ones. Wingers like (Alpha) Diallo, for example, can play an important defensive role. They are a team with which you have to stay completely flat out, you must not deviate from the game plan. It is a small venue and the atmosphere provides slightly different conditions from those of other Euroleague matches. In any case, it’s a demanding game as we all know, during which we have to play well to win. »
Olympiakos will have fans by their side during this trip to the Principality, which makes the Greek coach say:
“We are very happy! It’s a good situation. Especially the trips where we have two away games in a row. It is a beautiful journey, if accompanied by good results. So tourism is good, team moments for our supporters are good, but they have to be accompanied by good results for it to be the perfect trip. »
