Cracow. This is where the fort is to be built. For now, large blocks of flats have been built and the case is pending in court
The Krakow court is still examining the opinion of the N-10 “Prądnik Biały” fort at ul. Wybicki – a monument that was suddenly razed to the ground more than four years ago. The next hearing will be held on time. Meanwhile, on the one from which the relics of a more than 100-year-old building under conservation protection have “disappeared”, large blocks of flats have already grown. Recall that the developer can build seven-story blocks here, but he also has to rebuild the fort. It is not visible yet.
The case concerning the demolition of the fort has been pending before the court for a year. At the beginning, they faced the justice system as a task: one of Krakow’s developers (also the owner of the property) and his son, as well as an architect and construction manager directly responsible for demolition works. According to the prosecutor’s office, the developer knew that there was a monument in the place where the demolition was carried out. According to the investigators, by notifying the Department of Architecture of the Krakow magistrate of the wanted demolition of the buildings at 5 Wybickiego Street, he concealed that some of them are under conservation protection and entered in the register of monuments. The indictment also referred to the demolition of the relics of the fort without an agreement for the demolition of historic buildings, as well as in the case of extortion of falsehoods.
However, according to the developer’s account – as well as his son, who had a power of attorney to represent his father – at the end of 2017, he did not add his fort to the register of monuments. It was also not included in the city’s online spatial information system. So they decided that they ceased to be monuments. Then the decision was made to demolish it.
