In terms of safety, in this period of time, something on Via Roma has changed. A second call traffic light was installed, in conjunction with the pedestrian underpass. But that’s not enough: the municipal road it is long and has no speed bumps. The dark, the distraction of those behind the wheel do the rest. «We are close to Federico’s family, on behalf of the whole community I want to express our condolences to them.
At the same time I want to point out that it was a unforeseeable accident, which took place in a section of road in compliance with safety standards – said the mayor Marco Ghitti -. It was a fatality that we certainly would not have wanted to come to. Our pain joins that of our relatives. We leave the analyzes to the competent authorities and only after having clear what happened, if necessary, will the characteristics be made ».
Shortly after the November incident three years ago, the minorities in the council had questioned themselves about the safety of via Roma. They had asked for the creation of an ad hoc commission. The mayor reiterates that the municipal administration is at work: they will be expected in the near future lowering the speed to 30 and the construction of a roundabout near the crossroads between via Silvio Bonomelli and via Pusterla.
“It is true that this rotary it will be far from the unprotected crossings further south on the same road but will allow for a further slowdown of vehicles – continues Ghitti – we will also check the visual impact of the lighting, not installed by us, but it is an aspect that can make the difference ». Numerous residents in via Roma are asking for action to be taken as soon as possible precisely to limit the speed of cars, sustained despite the transit in the center.
