Process in Munich: father shakes baby dead Regional
Munich – An act that leaves you speechless! A father shook his baby to death…
The newborn girl’s (5 weeks) evaluations are horrific: fractured skull, cerebral hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, bruises, chest injuries, two broken ribs. The infant was injured so badly that he died.
The trial for manslaughter against father Roman P. (26) started at the district court on Monday.
The Moldovan, who came to Germany from Lithuania with his family in September 2021, denies: “I wanted to change the child’s diaper because it had pooped. There blood came dripping from the nose. I was shocked and shook the child with a jerk.” The child’s head moved: “backwards, forwards and once to the left side”. He also denied hitting his head against an object.
According to Presiding Judge Thomas Bott, that is, but not the same story the defendant told police after the death of his young daughter. There he stated that he had discovered the drops of blood on his nose the day before and had shaken the baby on the day of his death because he was no longer breathing.
►According to the police report, he only admitted shaking after the officers had pointed out to him that forensic medicine could only explain the child’s attacks with violent shaking. The accused accused of translation problems as the reason for the different information.
The child’s mother was not in the room during the incident, showering with the older daughter (5) on another floor. She called the emergency services, but the baby could not be saved.
Dramatic: When the court asked about the personal circumstances of the accused, it turned out that the little one is not the first child of the man who lived a few weeks. Of the six children he had with two wives, only three are still alive!
Two of his children from a previous marriage died as infants shortly after birth in Ukraine. They were premature, says the accused. The specific cause of death remains unclear in court, however, as does whether there was an autopsy at the time.
According to the court, the accused and the mother of the two babies who died in Ukraine made different statements about this. When his youngest daughter stared in Oberammergau last year, the accused spoke out – according to judge Bott – against an autopsy.
The process is ongoing.
