Clashes between Roma and Napoli fans on the A1. Romanist injured and arrested for aggravated brawl
Hell broke out on the A1 around 1.30pm. A quarter of an hour of very violent urban warfare at the service area Badia al Pino east (Arezzo), where in 2007 the Lazio fan was mortally wounded Gabriel Sandri. The 150 fans of the Naples and about 50 of the Rome. The former, headed to Genoa for the 6pm match against Sampdoria, are 350 but not all reported to be in the clashes, the latter are 150 and travel to Milan, where the match between the Giallorossi and Milan was scheduled for 20:45. The police have already identified all the Giallorossi. At 14, the traffic police close the highway. The balance is the fifteen kilometers of cars lined up and a Romanist (in yellow code). In the evening the man was arrested for aggravated brawl in flagrante delicto. And to avoid that, others may have a decision not to show up in the emergency room. Italy remains divided in two until 15.45, when the A1 is reopened.
The suspicion is that the ultras of the opposing fans they had arranged to meet with the aim of colliding at the gas station. For this reason, the quaestor of Arezzo has ordered, with an ordinance, its closure during the stay of the Neapolitans. It wasn’t enough. As the approximately 150 opposing fans passed, the Neapolitans started throwing bottles, pot shards and bars. The Roma supporters, who had been forbidden to stop, first slowed down, then parked a 15 minivan and car in the emergency lanes and returned on foot. Thus all hell broke loose. The prosecutor of Arezzo awaits the information from the Police Headquarters, in the file, in the first instance, the prosecutor Roberto Rossi hypothesizes the attack on transport safety and the interruption of public service.
THE GUERRILLA
The videos, even those shot by the agents themselves, show the quarter of an hour of madness. Scenes of urban guerrilla warfare that had never moved from the autogrills to the lanes of a motorway causing its closure. It all happens at kilometer 364 between Monte San Savino and Arezzo: as they pass in front of the service station, the vans and cars of the Romanists slow down, a sort of stone throwing begins. Some Neapolitan fans approach the barriers and throw everything. After a few metres, the Roma players park, a van even backs up, the Giallorossi ultras get out and walk back. The clashes take place in the street: the ultras wear sweatshirts and black jackets, their faces are covered with scarves and hoods. In hand, belts and flagstaffs, sticks. Screams are heard and the noise of stones being thrown and tear gas canisters is heard on the roadways while cars and trucks continue to pass. In all, about 150 Neapolitans and 50 Romanists face each other. Martino, one of them is wounded in the thigh, probably with a bottleneck. He went to the Arezzo emergency room and was arrested in the evening. Now the videos examined by the Police Headquarters will be used for identification. The police have the plates and many fans have shown their faces uncovered. The Romanists leave again after the quarter of an hour of madness. The Neapolitans, who were traveling on buses, were escorted to Genoa by the traffic police.

THE CONSEQUENCES
The investigations started immediately and after the first arrest in flagrante delicto, others could arrive. Nor that the prefects take restrictive measures against the fans. The Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, congratulated the police: “I will ask the Observatory on sporting events to evaluate the upcoming scheduled events with the utmost severity”. Piantedosi himself, as prefect of Rome, had on several occasions called for prescriptive measures to ban the away matches of fans deemed at risk. The Minister of Sport, Andrea Abodi: «Now whoever makes a mistake pays, it also applies to the hooligans of the A1».
THE WITNESS
A paradoxical situation with crazy traffic and terrified passing motorists. The fans got out of the cars were in the middle of the highway, all hooded and dressed in dark. They had sticks and threw firecrackers and smoke bombs towards the service area. We managed to pass them and escaped. My husband and I were returning from a ski week, our children are also in the car, two small children. we felt afraid that something would hit us and we left as quickly as possible ».
