Transforming your car into a cheap electric vehicle, soon possible in Belgium
Retrofitting is the transformation of a classic vehicle into an electric vehicle. Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, France have already organized and supervised the practice. In Belgium, it’s for everything soon. And that could well be an advantageous solution.
No more buying a diesel or gasoline in 2035
Europe will soon no longer allow the sale of thermal cars. Only electric vehicles can still be purchased. But the difficulty will be great if the Union wants to supply the market by favoring European manufacturers and maintaining acceptable prices.
Cheaper and ecological
Retrofitting is one of the alternative ways: ecological since cars that can still be driven are not scrapped and not too expensive since the transformation is, all in all, quite simple: remove the engine and the tank and replace them with an electric motor and a battery. The rest of the car or van hardly changes.
Legal obstacle
Yes, but to convert the vehicle, you have to obtain the manufacturer’s agreement or release him from his responsibility. This is possible if, at the regional level, the government issues a decree. The Federal government must also play its role and define the technical standards which form the legal framework and which allow certification.
