In order to review daily rounds mail distribution, The post office will lead in 2023 an experiment in several towns in France. Saint-Lys, Moissac, Cahors, Pamiers…
According to the map published by our colleagues from France Info, who uses the information, it is a question of 68 experiments throughout France, from the month of March 2023. Six of these municipalities concerned are in Occitanie, starting with Saint Lys (Haute-Garonne), a town of nearly 10,000 inhabitants located southwest of Toulouse. To the north of the regional capital, the towns of Moissac (Tarn-et-Garonne) and Cahors (Lot) would also be concerned, just like, in the south, that of Pamiers (Ariege). Two municipalities further from the Pink City are also on the list: Canet-en-Roussillon (Pyrenees-Orientales) and Villeneuve-les-Avignon (Guard).

Contacted by news.fr, the La Poste group minimize these “experiments” without denying them, but explain that they concern “local internal organizations which are consistent in adapting the postman’s round according to the nature and urgency of the various services to be distributed without consequences for the customers or for the employment of the postmen”.
“Each postman will always have his assigned round. There is no question of reducing the number of rounds and the number of postmen”.
“Any adaptation will be done in consultation with the postal workers and the trade unions as always at La Poste”, insists the group, which denies the expression “removal of the daily tour”, while unions and elected officials have already stepped up to the plate. The number of letters faded, that of parcels jumped
While on the volume of letters to distribute to fondue (18 billion in 2008, 9 billion in 2018, and probably 5 billion in 2025), that of parcels, small international packets and Chronopost envelopes, has increased, and La Poste has allowed itself a great diversification.
