Road safety, two new fixed speed control stations in Lastra a Signa
From Tuesday 10 January 2023 in Porto di Mezzo, on via Livornese in Lastra a Signa, two fixed speed control stations will be active.
In particular, the speed detection will be carried out near the stop line of the traffic lights, in both directions of travel. In fact, the Municipality of Lastra a Signa has recently received the authorization from the Prefecture of Florence to activate the systems, “installed with the aim of reducing the speed of vehicles and guaranteeing greater road safety on the Via Livornese in a delicate point where the houses are built close to the roadway, with the presence of a natural bottleneck that affects the arterial road precisely in that stretch of road”.
The Municipality of Lastra a Signa reminds you that the speed limit in that stretch is set at 50 km/h. “The goal of these new speed measuring instruments is not only that sanctioning – underlined the commissioner with responsibility for the Municipal Police Annamaria Di Giovanni: we want to raise awareness and empower people who seek to limit speed at one point in the area densely inhabited, where there is one school And where motorists tend to go fast, increasing safety and thus reducing the risk to pedestrians and vehicles”.
