Women: OM face Toulouse this Sunday – Around OM
OM Féminines face Toulouse Football Club this Sunday at 2.30 p.m. in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France Féminine.
The girls of Yacine Guesmia are back ! After a four-week break, they meet at OM Campus to challenge Toulouse in the French Cup. After eliminating AS Chadrac (11-0) and ASPTT Montpellier (9-0), our Olympians are performing flawlessly and intend to go the furthest in the competition.
Facing them is Toulouse, also a resident of D2 Arkema. 11th out of 12 in the standings (tied with Nîmes, last) with 4 small points, the Toulousaines took out Entente 3B (15-0) and Mazères (6-0) to reach the 16th finals.
During the only opposition between the two teams, the Marseillaises won 2-0 at home (goals from Ashley Clark and Mama Diop). The Olympians are full of confidence, having scored 26 goals and conceded only one (against Evian Thonon). They have 9 wins and a draw while the Toulousaines have recorded only one success, against Yzeure Allier (3-1), during the first day of the championship.
The partners of Roxane Couasnon advance as big favorites against Toulouse. The good start to the season has just rewarded the work done by Yacine Guesmia. The coach, who had a difficult time at the Brestois stadium, was able to bring a new touch to a women’s section, on a large scale last season. Its players are second in the standings, two points behind ASSE.
The Stéphanoises, eliminated from the Women’s French Cup, dominate the championship, even if the meeting between the two teams, scheduled for January 23, promises to be decisive in the rest of the championship.
