The plan for justice “will not be enough to completely restore the situation” in Avignon
The Keeper of the Seals, Eric Dupond-Moretti, unveiled this Thursday around sixty measures to improve the functioning of justice
and meet the expectations requested during the eight months of consultations of the Estates General, launched at the end of 2021. “It will not be enough to completely restore the situation”reacts this Friday morning Julien Écuer, sentence enforcement judge in Avignon and representative of the Union Syndicale des magistrats, guest of the 6-9 of France Bleu Vaucluse
.
But he welcomes the government’s awareness of the lack of means denounced for months by legal professionals. “We are satisfied to see that, after years in which the Union of Magistrates and other organizations have brought up the real state of justice, we finally have a government which surrenders to the principle of reality and which sees clearly that “We need additional budget, we need additional posts”explains Julien Écuer.
“Where will the troops we are promised go?”
France is “at the bottom of the European ranking in terms of budget for justice”, he recalls. Éric Dupond-Moretti has promised to sanctuary the 10,000 recruitments of justice officials promised by the end of the five-year term in 2027. “Where will the troops we are promised go?”asks Julien Écuer.
“Justice first lacks magistrates, whether judges or public prosecutors. Lack of clerks since a judge without a clerk, it cannot hold hearings. We will also have problems in Vaucluse, teams around the magistrate and it is this axis on which we will be very attentive”he continues.
