The Princely Couple, in the United States to forge ties between Monaco and Florida
The Principality could soon be twinned with the city of Fort Lauderdale.
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene traveled to Fort Lauderdale, Florida on December 29 to celebrate the end of renovations to the city’s imposing Aquatic Center. A renovation that cost several million dollars, because the center still has one of the highest diving boards in the world and state-of-the-art swimming pools, sometimes used for competitions.
It is therefore natural that the Royal Couple went there, given the Prince and Princess’s attachment to sport, particularly water sports, and the actions of Princess Charlene and her Foundation in the fight against drowning.
Monaco could also soon be twinned with Fort Lauderdale. The history of the city and that of the Principality are linked: in 2011, Prince Albert II received an honorary medal from the Centre.
” We will indicate that these links still exist beyond what we are celebrating today. We have great plans, to maybe organize one of our biggest events both in Monaco and here in Fort Lauderdale. declared Prince Albert II, referring in particular to the Monaco Yacht Show. A partnership with the Princess Charlene Foundation should also see the light of day soon.
The Princely Couple also received beautiful gifts from the mayor, Dean Trantalis: the key to Fort Lauderdale, but also an engraved crystal, representing the diving tower of the Aquatic Center.
