The operation “a great chef for all” of the Guides and Scouts of Monaco returns to offer a festive meal to the homeless in Nice
“The principle of the operation is to offer homeless people who eat at the Fourneau Économique de Nice, not only a meal that is out of the ordinary, a festive meal with the help and support of a Grand Chef but also a time of sharing and comfort and celebrating the new year with them“, explains Marie-Hélène Gamba, president of the Association of Guides and Scouts of Monaco.
And to specify: “This year’s Grand Chef will be Laurent Colin, executive chef of the Hôtel Méridien Beach Plaza kitchens.”
He succeeds chefs Marcel Athimond, Marcel Ravin and Christian Garcia. “For the record, Chef Colin had also sponsored the last edition of 2020 before the implementation of health restrictions to fight the pandemic in 2021 and 2022.”
Guides and Scouts at the service
The 8th edition of this solidarity enterprise will take place on Saturday January 7 at the Fourneau Économique “Saint-Vincent de Paul” located at 2, rue Badat in Nice.
“The guests will be welcomed in the dining room, which has been nicely decorated for the occasion. On this occasion, the Guides and Scouts will provide plate service for two hundred people. It is true that some of them are very well trained in this exercise because they are students in the hotel industry at the Lycée Technique et Hôtelier de Monaco. In addition, they could benefit from the sound advice of Robert Larini, retired hotel teacher and project coordinator”says Marie-Hélène Gamba.
The “Un grand chef pour tous” operation was launched in 2014, the year since which the Association of Guides and Scouts of Monaco has renewed, at the beginning of January, this solidarity action whose objective is to offer the most disadvantaged a meal that is both gastronomic and festive.
“It was during a winter marauding in Nice that the Compagnons had the idea of putting the small dishes in the big ones so that the homeless can celebrate the New Year with dignity around a lunch whose menu would be developed by a Grand Chef. distribution like Carrefour Monaco, without forgetting the valuable logistical support of the MIR Association”recalls the president of the Guides and Scouts of Monaco.
A new partner
Something new is offered this year. “The Rovers, the young adults of the Association, wanted to innovate this solidarity approach by offering each of the guests a personalized pack of hygiene products (soap, toothpaste, razor, baby diaper, baby wipes, stick lip…) The financing of this operation was fully supported by Deloitte, which joined the circle of benefactors of this marvelous human adventure.
There is no doubt that this 8th edition will mark the minds of all participants.
