Slavia finally has a stopper! From Lillestrøm, 22-year-old Ogbu is on his way to Prague
He was supposed to be a fresh reinforcement for Slavia Prague. However, Emmanuel Yeboah will not come to Eden in the end, because he did not pass the medical examination. But Kluž defends himself and assures in a public statement that he has no problems with the meniscus.
It was an agreed transfer. Slavia was supposed to pay Cluj 2 million euros, in return the Romanian club would send 19-year-old striker Emmanuel Yeboah to Prague.
Everything was agreed upon by the player, who was already in Prague on Wednesday and it was enough to pass a medical examination. But it was this one that became fatal for him, as the doctors discovered problems with the meniscus. According to them, he was “very worn out” and there was a risk of a serious injury that would sideline Yeboah for a long time.
Thus, Slavia jerked hard from the offense and wanted to change the transaction to hosting with an option. However, the management of Cluj did not agree with this, and Yeboah is thus returning to Romania.
“In the last few days, our club negotiated the transfer of Emmanuel Yeboah to Slavia Prague. This transfer will not take place and the footballer will continue in Gruia. Following this incident, our club would like to specify the situation in more detail,” began the Club’s official statement.
“Even though the transfer fee remained at the agreed part, to which a percentage of any future offense would be added, Slavia wanted to change the terms of the offense, referring to the health situation found in the meniscus players. In short, the Czech club would like to lend our player for a year, while retaining the player’s option to buy out.” informs Cluj.
“This option was unanimously disapproved by the management of our club, especially after consultation with specialist doctors, with whom CFR has been cooperating for years, and who, after a detailed study of the medical documents, did not agree with the opinion of the Czech club doctors.
Given that the player has had absolutely no health problems in the last year, the opinion of our doctors is quite trustworthy. In addition, Yeboah missed all training sessions and played matches every 3 days,” supplied by the Romanian unit.
“In conclusion, we want to mention that regardless of the outcome of this negotiation, we still respect the club Slavia Praha and appreciate the interest that the Czechs have shown in our player,” Cluj concludes his statement.
Yeboah will not strengthen Slavia, but we will probably never know how things are with his knee. It may be an attempt by Cluj not to reduce the price of the player in front of other interested parties, because with a worn meniscus the price would really drop quite a bit.
