Příske about marauders: Krejčí alternates the playground with the gym, Čelůstka starts jogging
The winter break is usually an opportunity to rehabilitate an absent player in the fall. It also applies to Sparta. Stopper Ondřej Čelůstka and winger Jakub Pešek are slowly recovering from long-term injuries, and captain Ladislav Krejčí is fully involved after the New Year. “I’ve had two good practices, I feel like I’m doing well,” coach Brian Priske said at the press conference.
He is the player whose health is of most concern. Midfielder Ladislav Krejčí started in two league games in the first half of the season due to a sore back, only his body did not allow him.
Will it be different in the spring? At Sparta, they are hoping for that…
“Krejčí has had two good training sessions, I feel that he is doing well. In his case, we combine training on the field and in the gym. I’m glad he has a positive attitude,” coach Brian Priske said.
In the case of other absentees, it will take some time to return. We are talking about experienced defender Ondřej Čelůstek, who had to miss the whole autumn due to injury. And it is almost certain that he will not even make it to the beginning of spring.
“Celústka is on the way back, spending a lot of time in the gym. He is gradually starting to run, maybe he could partially participate in the training sessions in Marbella, but we will be patient,” emphasized Priske.
A similar situation exists in the case of Jakub Pešek, who seriously injured his knee in the second half of August and had to undergo a difficult operation. But even an experienced winger is gradually returning to the load.
“In the case of Peš, it will still take some time, these are long-term injuries. But he too is gradually making progress with fitness trainers. It’s going according to plan,” praised Priske.
The rest of the squad is available to the Danish coach. Including four foreign reinforcements. Sparta was very active in the transfer market during the winter. It won representatives from Australia, Finland and Albania. This naturally raises expectations.
After the fall, the Reds lose seven points to the leader Viktoria, and the deficit to Slavia is two points less.
“Nothing has changed for us, the goals are the same. In Sparta they must be the highest. We are in third place, now our task is to win a lot of games. We want to get more points than Slavia and Pilsen at the beginning and we will see what it will be enough for. We are hungry and competitive, nothing is impossible,” Priske winked.
