What are the words of 2022 for Bulgaria?
The iconic words and phrases of 2022 will be chosen through a wide poll. For the second year in a row, you want to vote on the most important topics that have engaged the public in the last 12 months. The poll “Words of the year with How do you spell?” gives everyone the opportunity to vote and thus the society together determines which are the key issues for it.
Proposals are being collected from January 4 to 11, and a jury of long-time observers of social processes will help to discover the last ten words and expressions, from which the first three will be selected with the general poll in the period from January 16 to 21, reported the literacy platform “How do you spell?”.
The next successful campaign for 2021, the organizers are even more confident that we need to know and understand what drives us and how we choose direction as a community. According to the creator of “How do you spell?” Dr. Pavlina Varbanova and the teacher of Bulgarian language and literature and the journalist Dorothea Nikolova, language and words are our mirror, even when we do not manage to see ourselves well in it.
The initiators of the survey indicate that the topics of 2022 are many – both internationally and in our country: from the war that shakes us all, including with its economic consequences, to the permanent political crisis in Bulgaria. “It is curious which stories and through which words have been in the center of public attention, how much they have changed in a year, and we also manage to have a quality conversation about them. of our lives,” they believe.
The entire edition of the search also includes a ranking of the most used sign words and expressions in the Bulgarian language media. It is based on an analysis of extensive online content provided by the initiative’s partners – a system for global media monitoring and analysis Sensica. “So, as well as people once again having the say by voting in the site’s ‘How do you spell?’ poll, we’ll also be able to recap the years across media and influential blogs. It will probably be interesting for the media themselves to see what is the picture of Bulgaria and the world, which they generally present to your audience”, notes Pavlina Varbanova.
According to Dorothea Nikolova, the parallel between the topics that really excited people and those that are known or launched by the media as important will be very interesting. “Thanks to the experts from Sensika, we will be able to make a comparison based on solid facts,” she added.
“On the one hand, everyone should be more careful which information in the public space is from a reliable source and which is likely to be false. the public consciousness”, draw the attention of the organizers of the survey.
The “Words of the Year” survey is conducted on the literacy platform “How do you write?”on her Facebook page and on Twitter. It goes through three stages. In the first – from January 4 to 11 – everyone has the opportunity to give their suggestions for words of the year.
