Jiřího z Poděbrady: Prague has tendered a contract for the improvement of the square for 309 million
In the past, the square’s reconstruction project was met with criticism from local residents, which led the political representation of Prague 3 to stop it in the previous election period. The previous council of the city district decided to resume work on the project and to agree with the municipality that the city will take over the documentation after completion and take the modifications to the mayor.
They have on the square trees will be added and a larger space for public events will be created in front of the church. The proposal also includes the improvement of irrigation and the improvement of the quality of green areas, including the construction of a retention tank. Surfaces and furniture will be repaired. The fountain, which is in front of the metro station and was previously considered to be removed by the town hall, will remain.
Last year in September, DPP started repairing the subway station on the square, which has been operating since 1980 without major reconstruction. The work has not yet disrupted the operation of the station, but according to earlier information from the company, it will have to be closed from January 14 to November due to the replacement of the escalators. New lifts for wheelchair users and parents with prams have also been created in the station. For a long time, the municipality has also been preparing improvements to Vinohradská Street, which, according to earlier information, should begin next year after the completion of the works at the station.
