Toulouse. Parking and ticketing: too much zeal?
Many Toulouse residents regret excessive verbalizations. The municipal police explain themselves.
You have surely already happened to park in a bus lane to drop someone off or unload your car… Elsa, in her twenties, parked her car for a handful of minutes in a bus lane in the center of Toulouse these days here, the time to drop off a pot of paint at her place. A few days later she received a PV of 110 € at home…Like this young woman, the people of Toulouse are subject to fines which they often consider abusive, like the offenses for inconvenient parking even of a few minutes. It suffices that the offense be noted for a report to be drawn up, regardless of the duration of the offence. It is then up to the officer of the public prosecutor’s office to study the cases of dispute and thus assess the possibility of classifying an offence.
If you feel like you no longer have the right to make mistakes, it’s because video camera tracking is becoming more and more effective. “For a quieter city for Toulouse residents”, the fight against annoying and very annoying parking is one of our priorities. […]Offenses can be detected by video operators who observe the offense using cameras, but also by field agents who fight against this type of offense on a daily basis,” explains the municipal police. While the city already has 510 cameras, 40 more will be deployed in the course of 2023.
The municipal police recall that most of these incidents occur “especially on the main roads where the main bus lanes occur”. To avoid these mishaps and drop off passengers or cargo safely, it is advisable to give priority to delivery locations.
