Ski holidays in Austria: drama on the slopes! One woman dead, several injured
Dramatic start to the new year! On New Year’s Day (January 1), skiing holidays in Austria turned into a nightmare for several people. Two accidents occurred within a short space of time on a steep slope – a 28-year-old died on the spot from her discoveries.

The series of accidents on the steep ski slope on the Hintertux Glacier in Tyrol began around 10 a.m. in the morning. Two friendly couples from Niederladen were driving down an icy and steep stretch towards the valley when the two women in the group (27 and 28 years old) fell independently.
According to the “Tiroler Tageszeitung”, the 28-year-old slipped about 100 meters down the slope, broke through a safety net and was thrown about 20 meters through the air. She finally crashed into a tree and died on the spot from her life-threatening dangers.

After her fall, her 27-year-old companion slipped unchecked over the edge of the slope and landed in a rocky hollow. Seriously injured, she was rescued by a rescue helicopter and flown to a hospital.

Only 30 minutes later, the rescue helicopter had to return to the same place, this time because of a 55-year-old German. She also fell on the descent and was badly injured.
However, it was not the last incident of this New Year on the Hintertux Glacier: at around 2 p.m., a 56-year-old German skier fell elsewhere in the area. He crashed into a sign and seriously injured his eye, according to the “Tyrolean newspaper“.
