Cristiano Ronaldo offers a nice farewell gift to Erik ten Hag
Former Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo could give Erik ten Hag a parting gift following his move to Saudi club Al Nassr. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner had his contract at Old Trafford terminated before the World Cup following his explosive interview with Piers Morgan, and subsequently joined the Middle East.
The Winter transfer window could be very active for United, who are trying to replace Ronaldo and strengthen Ten Hag’s attacking options. Anthony Martial has taken over both Premier League games as a centre-forward since Ronaldo’s departure, but the Dutchman is hoping to sign another striker. Cody Gakpo was mentioned as a potential target, but Liverpool rushed in and announced the arrival of the now ex-PSV striker. However, according to the Daily Mail, Ronaldo’s arrival at Al Nassr could allow the Middle East side to transfer Vincent Aboubakar in the other direction.
The Indomitable Lions captain and World Cup hero could leave the club on loan. And Man United have assessed her as a potential option alongside Memphis Depay and Marcus Thuram. The 30-year-old striker was the star of the Africa Cup of Nations last year, and netted eight times in seven games to finish as the tournament’s top scorer. His link-up play could also bring out the best in Marcus Rashford, who could allow Ronaldo one last time for making Aboubakar available during the January transfer window.
