the 2023 calendar. The Capital is once again an unmissable destination for live events
We saw Coldplay blow, who chose Naples and Milan for the Italian stages of the Music of the Spheres world tour, causing the retailer sites to go haywire due to too many requests with 280,000 tickets pulverized in 72 hours due to expiry dates at the San Paolo and four o’clock at the San Siro. But the capital does not stand by and watch. And go on the counteroffensive. Far from a closed city: Rome opens the doors of its symbolic places to the great stars of Italian pop and rock and to the legends of international music, convincing them to choose the Eternal City for the Italian premieres of their respective tours. And it tries to regain its centrality in the world of live events, looking to the European capitals. From Bruce Springsteen and Imagine Dragons to the return of Vasco (who has chosen to leave Milan out of the tour itinerary), passing through Muse and Depeche Mode: anticipation is sky high.

Rome Caput Live, the Capital unmissable destination for live events
To regain the role of protagonist compared to the other Italian cities which in recent years have been favored by international impresarios, Milan, Bologna and Turin above all, Rome starts again from a fact: the 2 million tickets sold in the summer of 2022, the crucial post-pandemic recovery. A figure that has allowed the capital to overtake Milan thanks to the push of the concerts at the Circus Maximus by Vasco Rossi (140,000 spectators), Ultimo and Maneskin (70,000 tickets sold by the singer-songwriter and another 70,000 by the band), the shows at the Stadio Olimpico by Cesare Cremonini (57,000 spectators), Marco Mengoni (38,000 visitors), Francesco De Gregori and Antonello Venditti (44,000 paying guests), at the two stages of Jovanotti’s Jova Beach Party in Cerveteri (80,000 spectators) and the Rock in Rome at the Capannelle Racecourse. «Rome has restarted. We have created all the conditions for artists and organizers to increasingly choose Rome. We will continue along this path with Mayor Gualtieri to generate positive effects on employment, the city’s economy, tourism and the enhancement of the Rome brand», the promise made this summer by the Capitoline councilor to Major Events, Tourism, Fashion and Sport Honored Alexander. No sooner said than done. To inaugurate the 2023 summer season, none other than Bruce Springsteen will take care of it, who will return with his E Street Band to the Circus Maximus on May 21, seven years after the 2016 show: tickets sold out a year ahead of schedule. On August 5, the ancient Roman stadium will host the only Italian leg of the Imagine Dragons world tour, 46 million albums sold. From international rock to Italian pop: on 2 September the archaeological area will be transformed into a gigantic open-air karaoke for the over 40,000 spectators of Il Circo Max, the only summer show announced by Max Pezzali. He won’t be the only protagonist of Italian pop to perform at the Circus Maximus: according to rumors Cesare Cremonini will also arrive in the ancient Roman stadium, thanks to the over 60,000 spectators of this year’s shows, between the Olimpico and Palazzo dello Sport. However, the real heart of the programming will be the Olimpico, on the other side of the Tiber: on 9 June, less than a week from the end of Serie A, the Roman Gazzelle will take care of opening the stadium doors to music. Then it will be the turn of Vasco (120,000 spectators expected for the dates of June 16 and 17), Tiziano Ferro (June 24 and 25), Blanco (July 4), Ultimo (the concerts of July 7 and 8 already sold out, yes will also perform on the 10th), Depeche Mode (they chose Rome for the Italian premiere, on July 12th they will arrive in Milan on the 14th, in Bologna on the 16th), Ligabue (July 14th), Muse (July 18th in Milan they will play four days later ), Maneskin (July 20 and 21) and Nuclear Tactical Penguins (July 23 and 24).

The shows
Music also returns to the Centrale del Foro Italico with three concerts by Claudio Baglioni in September. Rock in Rome has already warmed up its engines by announcing the shows at Capannelle di Salmo (July 13) and Arctic Monkeys (July 16). It had been years, perhaps decades, that the calendar of summer rallies scheduled inside the ring of the Grande Raccordo Anulare was not only not so crowded, but also included names of this weight. And if The Weeknd ultimately chose Milan, the announcements of Guns N’ Roses should arrive shortly (they will return on tour in Europe in the summer of 2023) and Beyoncé, again at the Olimpico. The icing on the cake of a vintage that promises to be unforgettable.
