The van driver crashed head-on into a bridge in Prague, the fire department had to extricate her
Shortly after 12:30 in the evening, a serious traffic accident occurred on Wednesday in Chodovská Street in Prague.
For unknown reasons, a driver with a van crashed here, driving along Chodovská Street in the direction of Bohdalka to Spořilovska. The driver drove off the road to the right and crashed head-on into the railway bridge. The delivery of inertia continued for several tens of meters before stopping. The driver remained wedged in the wrecked car after the accident.
The closest patrols of the Police of the Czech Republic, including the Patrol Service Department of Prague IV, or the Department of Traffic Accidents were immediately sent to the scene. Crews of the ZZS HMP, including a doctor, also went to the event. HZS Prague units were called from the Chodov and Strašnice stations, reinforced by a HZS unit from the Railway Administration, which is located basically around the corner.
At the time of the firefighters’ awareness, the driver of the van was unconscious, she was rescued using a hydraulic rescue device. The firemen later handed her over to the rescuers. They intubated the woman and provided her with intensive medical care. After treatment, the patient was transferred to the Faculty Hospital of Královské Vinohrady.
Traffic at the scene of the accident was stopped in the direction of Spořilovská Street. Likewise, tram traffic had to be stopped in both directions.
The police documented the accident. They also examine all the circumstances of its origin. Firefighters cleaned the road and with the help of a winch on a technical vehicle from the Chodov station towed the van to the countryside. The transport company was then able to resume tram service.
