Qazim Laci goes to Sparta! The Albanian international played in France
Dimitry Kamenovich? Not yet. Midfielder Qazim Laci (26) became the second player to join Sparta’s squad in the winter transfer market. The Albanian representative comes from the French club AC Ajaccio, signed a multi-year contract in the summer. “With the arrival of Qazim, we are getting a central midfielder who, with his different typology, perfectly complements our existing midfield and will give the coach a wide range of options in the center of the team,” said Sparta’s sports director Tomáš Rosický.
If a new player, then from abroad. Sparta leadership is now in this mode. After Kaan Kairinen, she also looked for midfielder Qazim Laci. The Albanian footballer has so far worn the jersey of Ajaccio in the top French competition.
“Qazim is a representative of his country, who is used to challenging matches from the two highest French competitions. He is technically equipped, he can change the tempo of the game, speed it up and get into the opponent’s goal from deep. He approaches well and has a winning mentality,” emphasized Rosický.
Laci already moved to Greece in his youth, where he went through the academy of Olympiakos. However, he played for the first team of the famous team for only one minute.
Finally, after a series of loan spells in the summer of 2018, he moved definitively to Ajaccio, where he built a much stronger position. So far, he has made 158 starts for the French club, in which he scored 11 goals and added 8 assists.
“With the arrival of Qazim, we are getting a central midfielder who, with his different typology, perfectly fulfills our existing central line and will give the coach many different options in the center of the team,” mentioned Rosický.
In the current season, however, the 15th Ligue 1 team was dropped from the starting line-up due to health problems. Since October, he has only appeared in four duels for a total of 52 minutes.
It can be assumed that the work of the Spartan leadership does not end with this arrival. Before tightening them the loan of defender Dimitri Kamenovic from Lazio, the Reds continue to not give up on the idea of the arrival of Australian winger Awer Mabil. And the transfer of talented striker Filip Vechety from Slovácko remains in the game.
The two so far confirmed rookies, i.e. Kairinen and Laci, will report to coach Brian Priske at the beginning of January at the start of the second phase of the winter training. This will culminate in a subsequent training camp in Spain, Sparta kicks off the spring part of the season on the last Saturday in January with a league match in Olomouc.
