APPOINTMENT SET FOR JUNE 4TH NEXT – Teleischia
NAPLES. The International Road Safety Festival will be held in Naples on 4 June, an initiative promoted by the Human Wheels association in collaboration with the Italian Motorcycle Federation to direct public opinion towards the responsible behaviors necessary for those who drive on two wheels. The event was presented in the headquarters of the municipal council in via Verdi where the stages of feedback to the event and the collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples were also revealed. In a first phase, the students of the Academy will be involved who will work creatively to give life to the character of a superhero with a helmet who will become a sort of mascot of the Festival. Then, at a later time, from March, the awareness campaign will start within schools because it is above all the youngest who need to get used to prudent and safe driving. Municipal councilors Luca Trapanese, Emanuela Ferrante and Maura Striano took part in the appointment in the council chamber, which was also an opportunity to discuss and analyze the main critical issues related to the world of road safety. Among the others present also the president of the Human Wheels association, Claudio Bevilacqua, who also acted as moderator introducing the various interventions, and the commander of the Municipal Police of Naples, Ciro Esposito, who through the numbers provided some interesting reflection.
“Initiatives of this type always see us involved at the forefront because we are convinced that it is essential to give positive messages on behavior when you get behind the wheel of vehicles and motorcycles – underlines Esposito -. Naples is a city where road accidents are many, at the moment there are 24 fatal accidents recorded this year in the city, last year even 31: there is still a lot to do to bring all road users to safety . Very often, those who suffer the greatest damage from accidents are weak road users, especially pedestrians, or those behind the wheel of a motorcycle or bicycle. It is opportune and necessary to add as much as possible an aware road safety education”.
The Councilor for Social Policies of the Municipality of Naples, Luca Trapanese, shares the same opinion: “Being faced with a series of daily tragedies means that we have a responsibility towards our young people – Trapanese affirms -. Data from social services show that young people at the moment indulge in alcohol, drugs and also have a series of coexistence problems with each other: when these young people get behind the wheel of a motorcycle and a moped they are dangerous in perpetuity themselves and for others. It is therefore necessary to implement a series of actions on the territory, starting from the school up to all the collateral initiatives in the afternoon, where young people are educated in the proper use of mopeds and other tools such as alcohol. This will help us avoid tragedies, but above all it will help us have safer roads”.
