The arcades of pl. Savior. Conservator: “It’s illegal construction”

Activists intervened in the matter of redevelopment
The general education housing developments were the first to inform the activists from the associations of the City of Ours.
“It was only two months ago that the historic arcades of the colonnade were discovered and the incorrect restaurant gardens on the Savior square, and today unidentified people are again erecting unauthorized construction in one of the most characteristic places in Warsaw. Building supervision is not intervening for the time being,” they wrote on social media.

They also remembered the history of this place. One of the restaurants is fully equipped with a wooden pavilion in the arcades. “In 2019, the provincial monument conservator ordered the demolition of the gastronomic pavilions, taking into account the establishment of the Stanisławowska Axis. The decision became final on November 1 this year. Plac Zbawiciela” – explains the activists. “Until today” – they added and appealed to the services for the fastest possible service and stopping the development.

Michał Krasucki, Warsaw Conservator of Historical Monuments, for matters noted. “The arbitrary construction of the arcades on pl. Savior. the same effect as before without respecting the public function of this pedestrian space, without respecting conservation maintenance” – he wrote. “It is a pity that no attempt has been made to solve some sensible solutions that would reconcile both functions (pedestrian arcades and cafe gardens) and the conditions of conservation protection” – added Michał Krasucki.
He stressed that he had notified the Mazovian Voivodship Conservator of Monuments about the arbitrary development. “Decision for October on Wednesday” – MWKZ spokesman Andrzej Mizera.
