From January, ours will be the most expensive parking in Hungary, HUF 600 an hour in downtown Szeged – Szeged news
“Parking is the most expensive in Szeged, in the whole country,” was said in the speeches of representatives of the Szeged General Assembly held in July, which held a vote on the subject, before the Széchenyi passed the increase in fees and the extension of parking spaces with 18 yes, 2 abstentions and 9 no. on the square. From January 2, 2023, i.e. from next Monday, we will really be the most expensive in a tie with Budapest,
- in the green zone from the current 535 to 600,
- in Sarga, the parking fee will increase from HUF 245 to HUF 330.
FEES IN THE SZEGED YELLOW ZONE INCREASED BY 50% IN HALF A YEAR
If you take it that way, the increase will be from HUF 480 to HUF 600, as a two-step increase was voted at the general meeting cited above.
- according to which it is valid until the end of June instead of 480
- from July 1, you can park for HUF 535 for one hour in the most expensive zone in Szeged,
- according to the decision, this will continue to rise from January 1, to HUF 600.
The formula derived above naturally applies to the green zone, the yellow zone, raised from HUF 220 to HUF 245, will become more expensive from January 1, 2023 to HUF 330, and the new blue zone, which will be introduced from July 1, 2023, will also be HUF 230 will cost for 60 minutes.
Parking in the green zone will mean a 25 percent increase, in the yellow zone a 50 percent increase.
Speaking of which, the blue zone.
SHOULD THE PEOPLE OF NOVEMBER ZEGE PAY? THE BLUE AND PURPLE ZONES ARE COMING IN THE SUMMER OF 2023
We wrote in the summer that one of the city’s streets, which have been free to use until now, wants to expand its paid parking system based on a newly submitted proposal signed by Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Sándor Nagy. The draft was voted by the above-mentioned general meeting held on July 4, according to which from next summer
- beyond the boulevard is a blue,
- and a purple zone will be created at Torontál Square in Újszeged and around Erzsébet Liget.
The proposal also states that in order to implement the plan, an additional 125 parking meters must be purchased, as well as 35 to replace the damaged devices, which means an expenditure of 440-480 million for the city.
BEYOND THE TOP: IN A DEAD COMPETITION WITH BUDAPEST, WE ARE THE MOST EXPENSIVE
At the end of our article, a couple of comparisons should be made with Szeged – in terms of its population – with the prices of a large rural city in its weight group. In the list below, for the sake of simplicity, we only look at the most expensive zones, but the detailed tariffs are included in the names of the settlements:
- GoatskemetHUF 400,
- Debrecenin HUF 480,
- Gyorin – where they decided to raise it at the same time as us – HUF 520 instead of HUF 400,
- Pécsand 400 HUF for an hour of parking in the most expensive zone 1.
With the Szeged 2023 tariffs described in our article, we will be at the same level as the capital, that is, if we look at the most expensive zones. On June 29, the Budapest General Assembly decided that from September 5, parking in the “A” zone will cost HUF 600 per hour, in “B” the hourly price will be HUF 450 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., and in the “C” zone HUF 300 , between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., and HUF 200 in zone “D” between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
