Berlin police warn of dangerous acid on door locks
Burglars are increasingly using nitric acid, which severely burns the skin and respiratory tract. If you see liquid on the door lock, you should definitely stay away from it.

The Berlin police are currently warning of possible acids on door locks. Since mid-December there has been an increase in burglaries in the Berlin city area, in which concentrated nitric acid – one of the strongest mineral acids of all – is used to decompose door locks, the authority said.
Depending on the material of the lock, the liquid appears transparent to yellow, green or brownish. Anyone who sees an unknown liquid on the apartment or front door should inform the police immediately and stay away from the damaged areas.
If YOU notice this green or looking liquid on your front door in a similar context to a burglary:
Call die #110. Do not touch the liquid, even with gloves. All information: https://t.co/AP8c3Xnx5g

Police: Even gloves do not protect
“Under no circumstances touch the liquid yourself! Even gloves do not provide sufficient protection against the highly corrosive and respiratory tract irritant substance,” the police said.
So far, 31 cases of this type have been registered. So far, neither burglary victims nor emergency services have experienced attacks.
