Avignon: a man and a woman wounded by bullets after an attack with an assault rifle
A man and a woman were wounded by bullets on Saturday evening on a ring road in Avignon (Vaucluse), the prosecution said on Sunday.
A violent attack on New Year’s Eve. Two people, a man and a woman, were seriously injured by bullets this Saturday, December 24, after being the target of an assault rifle.
Sources close to the investigation confirmed the information of Provenceexplaining that the shooting took place around 11 p.m. on the Charles de Gaulle ring road.
The two victims are a man in his twenties or thirties and a young woman. This first was the most seriously affected, after having received seven to eight bullets in the body, said the Avignon prosecutor’s office.
He remained between life and death for a while, before his vital prognosis was no longer engaged this Sunday evening.
The young woman meanwhile received a projectile in the shoulder but her state of health was not worried.
Riddled with Kalashnikov bullets
The two injured people were in a car stopped at a red light when another vehicle arrived at the same height.
One of the occupants got out and opened fire at the Kalashnikov. Twenty-seven casings were found at the scene.
According to a source close to the investigation, the location of the shooting is not associated with drug sales outlets and it is “too early” to determine the circumstances of this attack. The city of Avignon is, however, accustomed to settling accounts related to drug trafficking.
At the beginning of December, two young men were killed by Kalashnikov fire, in a case that looked in all respects to a settling of scores linked to drug trafficking.
