NAPLES. PROTOCOL FOR POVERTY EMERGENCY SIGNED – Teleischia
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Municipality of Naples, the Diocese and the ASL Napoli 1 for the implementation of shared actions to improve the living conditions of homeless people and the poverty emergency.
The protocol was proposed by the Department of Social Policies and signed in episcope by Archbishop Mimmo Battaglia with the mayor Gaetano Manfredi and the director general of ASL Napoli 1, Ciro Verdoliva. From the agreements signed, the Municipality of Naples will take care of the reception at 360 degrees, expanding and strengthening all the actions already in place. About twenty-five million euros have been committed for the next three years; street units have been strengthened from one passage to five; in the coming months dormitories will be expanded for about two hundred more places; daily activities in day care centers have been expanded, in particular a new shower and laundry point has been opened, as well as legal and employment guidance at the SAI; a first community for homeless women welcomed with their children was funded; a large part of the PNRR has been designed to help emergency poverty and homeless people; in one case in particular, in partnership with Grandi Stazioni, a new low-threshold reception center will be opened in the areas adjacent to the central station. Four housing firsts will be created in confiscated assets dedicated to welcoming smaller groups to start self-reliance. Two other day centers will be created in the Ponticelli and Fuorigrotta areas.
“In these first months of mandate I have had the opportunity to listen to the needs of our poorest brothers and sisters and the situation that has emerged is very serious and gets worse every day. We are rebuilding the foundations to face an emergency that had been completely forgotten”, declares the councilor Luca Trapanese
