David Holston (Dijon): “Maybe I talk too much to the referees, I will have to limit myself a bit”
The JDA Dijon remains on two defeats, a bitter one in Cholet (107-79) and another in BCL, at home, against PAOK Salonika (69-74) before receiving Axel Julien’s JL Bourg this evening. The public good questioned the leader David Holston (1.73 m, 37 years old) on the fact that he is sometimes severely sanctioned.
“I try never to hide behind excuses. But we had 3 or 4 players with four or five fouls, plus Jacques’ injury (alingue) before the second period, he recalled to explain the 28-point gap recorded at Cholet. In the fourth quarter, they took the lead because we didn’t have enough rotations, and no more pivot when Gavin (Article) is out. I just wish I had helped my team more at that time. (…) I sometimes receive faults as if I were a “rookie”, and yet I am one of the oldest (to smile). Maybe I talk too much to the referees, I’m going to have to limit myself a bit, but it’s my competitive character that comes out every time. I always want to win and there are so many emotions that overwhelm me that are hard to control. I hope this game in Cholet will help us for the next one. »
Jacques Alingué and Abdoulaye Loum will be absent against JL Bourg, but the Dijon team will be able to count on their still enthusiastic fans.
“In tight games at the end, the crowd plays a vital role, especially in pushing you through defensive streaks. This is where we need it the most, to stop an opponent. We sent everyone to shout, to support us, and it’s almost an additional option to have our supporters who encourage us so much. »
