Christmas Eve fish soup: Mayor Hřib served on the Old Town Square
Despite all the disagreements and personal disputes, the representatives of Prague joined forces to support a good cause. After a two-year covid break, the traditional Christmas fish soup was once again served on the Old Town Square on Friday, the day before Christmas Day. Representatives of various political parties distributed more than 3,000 portions between the lid. In addition to Mayor Zdeněk Hřiba, Patrik Nacher (ANO), Zdeněk Zajíček (ODS), Jan Chabr (TOP 09) or Prague 7 Mayor Jan Čižinský (Praha Sobě) also donned the chef’s rondon. In addition to Hřib, the Pirates were also represented by the former mayor of Prague 5, Daniel Mazur, and ex-deputy mayor of Prague 10, Jana Komrsková.
The first soups began to be distributed at eleven o’clock and at first there was a slight crowd around the stand, but gradually the crowd lined up in several groups and everything went smoothly. Someone came for soup behind your favorite politicianothers again headed for where there was the smallest queue.
It also reached tourists
Everyone who tasted the soup praised it highly, including foreign tourists, for whom it was their first experience with a traditional item from the Czech Christmas menu. The soup was tasted for the first time by, for example, four students from Great Britain who wandered into the stall completely by chance.
“We had no idea something like this was happening here, for the Christmas markets and then we found that soup was being distributed here. I don’t really need fish, but this soup is great, we all liked it, and I would easily add some. We had no idea that it was being distributed by the mayor of PragueI wouldn’t expect to see him here,” one of them told Blesk.
On the contrary, Pavel (84) knew very well about the event. In addition to the soup, he also came to have a few words with the mayor: “I wanted to advise Mr. Hřib to wear the mayor’s chain around his neck next time, because when they explain to foreigners here that he is the mayor, they don’t understand me and I don’t know about what goes I also wanted to say hello to Mr. Nacher, because I used to teach him at the university, and even back then I came up with a slogan for him: Nacher je machr,” he said to Blesku with a smile on his face.
According to his own words, Patrik Nacher himself is not a big fan of fish soup, but today he had to say a he had no regrets. “The soup is perfect, I generally don’t eat much fish soup, but I like this one. When I also take into account that the chef had to make something like 3,000 portions, it’s really excellent,” said Nacher to Blesku. “I think this tradition is important. It’s about would no one should be hungry or alone at Christmas time“, said ČTK Hřib.
He attracted the mayor and the leader of ANO the most
When asked if he observes who the most people go to for soup and if he is not subconsciously competing with others to see who has the most, he answers with a smile: “I don’t think it’s because of that, the queues are the same everywhere, but of course the mayor and I had the biggest here” he stated lightly.
“I think it belongs to Christmas, it’s not worth doing politics every minute, every day of the week, here we are to stand next to each other, have fun with people, spread good cheer, make fun of each other and forget for a moment about those footstools, added the number one ANO in the Prague municipal elections.
