Albert II and Louis Ducruet reunited for the Golden Foot Awards
On December 21, 2022, Prince Albert II of Monaco and his nephew Louis Ducruet took part in the Golden Foot Awards ceremony, a Monegasque football distinction. Between the award ceremony and the 20th anniversary of the prize, an unforgettable evening was held at the Grimaldi Forum…
“No baskets!”. the dress code was clear: suits for the men, evening dress for the ladies. Elegance was in order for the 20th Golden Foot Awards ceremony, held on November 21, 2022 at the Grimaldi Forum. Prince Albert II, a big football fan, joined in the festivities. His nephew Louis Ducruet, who works as a recruiter for the Nottingham Forest club, would not have missed this ceremony for the world.
If several prizes are awarded during this evening, to retired or active players, that of Golden Foot is the most prestigious. It rewards a player who is still active for his entire career. Around 8:30 p.m., Robert Lewandowski joined Prince Albert II on stage to receive his trophy. The Polish striker, playing today for FC Barcelona, seemed delighted to see a new distinction added to his dizzying record.
This ceremony was also an opportunity to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the award, created by Antonio Caliendo in 2003, whose importance on the football scene is only growing. For this occasion, a huge five-storey wedding cake was shared between the guests.
Soon, to eternally seal his distinction, the footprints of Robert Lewandwoski will be molded into a slab and placed on the Promenade des Champions, along the Monegasque coast. Thus, the man of all records will take his place alongside Salah, Zlatan or Ronaldo.
