Verona, house fire: elderly woman dies of illness after calling for help
Tragedy today, December 21, in via San Marco in Sanguinetto, a municipality in the Bassa Veronese area, where an 84-year-old woman would have been seized by a sudden illnessafter that a red-hot pot used for cooking would have resulted a fire in the kitchen. Unfortunately, the attempts to revive her by the Suem 118 staff, who intervened on the spot alerted by the firefighters, were of no avail. The dead woman.
The outbreak of the fire
It was about noon when, inside the three-story building where the old woman seems to have lived with her daughter – who is said to be a teacher at a school in Roncanova, in the municipality of Gazzo Veronese, and who was not present in the house at the time of the principle of fire – would have left a incandescent pot on the sink, without, for, opening the cold water tap. At that point, due to dynamics that are now being investigated by the fire brigade, the heat from the pot would have caused a fire causing a lot of smoke to spread in a short time in the room. A situation that would have sent the woman into panic, who had previously suffered from heart disease, but that she would have managed, despite the state of agitation, to alert the firefighters of what happened, before losing her life.
The intervention of the emergency services
The firefighters intervened on the spot with personnel from the Legnago detachment: two half and eight men, including the duty officer of the Verona operations centre. Once they arrived in Venera, the rescuers found the woman when they entered the house. The operators of Verona Emergenza present therefore attempted to revive her carrying out the life-saving maneuvers for a long time. In vain: in the end they decreed his death.
