The EuroLeague having refused to postpone the meeting between AS Monaco and Zalgiris Kaunas, Elie Okobo and Mike James will miss the All-Star Game. They will be replaced by Hugo Benitez (JL Bourg) and Michael Stockton (Pau-Lacq-Orthez).
Once again, the overlapping of the FIBA and EuroLeague calendars has made a collateral victim. This time, it is the All-Star Game which will suffer since the star game will be amputated on Thursday, December 29 from one of its brightest stars, one of two public All-Stars, Mike James. Like his teammate Elie Okobo, the Monegasque will not go to Bercy since he will have to face Zalgiris Kaunas in EuroLeague the same evening. Despite the efforts of the LNB and the ASM, the meeting could not be offbeat on another date. If the LNB “understands the importance for the club to be able to count on its major players during such a meeting, it disapproves of the fact that the Euroleague was not done what was necessary to make their participation possible” in the All-Star Game.
Consequently, the absence of the two players from the Roca Team makes the happiness of two other residents of Betclic ÉLITE: Hugo Benitez, All-Star for the first time at 21, and Michael Stockton, the leader of the Élan Béarnais, already convened in 2019.
The 24 All-Stars are known, Wembanyama will participate in the three-point contest!
