Lithuania decided to extend the resettlement of persons of Lithuanian origin from Ukraine
Due to the continuation of Russian aggression in Ukraine, Lithuania decided to extend the transfer of persons of Lithuanian origin from this country.
According to the decision of the Government adopted on Wednesday, the application for granting the transferable person status will be accepted until June 30 of next year.
The project is presented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) that it was prepared “in view of the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Russia, destruction of vital infrastructure objects of Ukraine.”
According to the previous decision of the Government, the acceptance of applications would be completed on December 31 of this year.
After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine at the end of February, Lithuania started relocating its citizens, persons of Lithuanian origin, as well as persons with the right to restore Lithuanian citizenship and their family members to Lithuania.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, 70 persons were granted this transferable person status, whose refusal was issued for consideration of ten applications.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already paid 47 thousand to 35 displaced persons. 374 euros – an average of 1,354 euros per person – as compensation for property not transported.
The Ministry of Social Security and Labor, in turn, concluded a contract for the provision of integration support with 50 persons and paid out 58,000 for these purposes. 280 euros or 1165 euros per person.
