A boost for monuments in danger. Monday, December 19, 2022, the Heritage Mission, worn by Stephane Bernunveiled the sites that would benefit from assistance thanks to the heritage lotto. In the No Calais, the old chapel of the old hospice of Saint-Venant will also get a facelift.
In the North it is the chimney of the old tile factory of Râches who will receive an endowment.
Refurbishment of the building
In Saint-Venant, the site of the former hospice has an old chapel, deconsecrated. After a first phase of renovation in 2014, this chapel was reassigned to a space for temporary exhibitions. In particular, all the exhibitions for the centenary of the First World War were held there from 2014 to 2018.
Selected as part of the Heritage Mission, which works to safeguard endangered heritage, this structure will benefit from an endowment of 37,000 euros, a sum which is added to public aid.
“The project, supervised by a heritage architect, already in charge of the work in progress on the site, will allow this elegant building to restore its harmonious brick facades and its natural slate roofs, which will abandon the current asbestos slates. Thus its refined pinnacle and its medieval-looking turret will once again be magnified,” announces the Heritage Foundation.
