Passers-by found a dead boy on Wednesday morning at Escher-Wyss-Platz in Zurich. The city police assume a traffic accident. The accident and the cause were still unclear. The death was also a topic in the Zurich city parliament in the evening.
Municipal councilor Sandra Bienek (GLP) pointed out that the Escher-Wyss-Platz with its traffic management is still dangerous. He was especially for the children who had to cross the square on the way to school.
Many parents have already made representations to the city. “It’s really time for the city council to take care of securing the way to school,” said Bienek.
The Zurich city police did not provide any information about the accident until Wednesday evening. However, a spokesman clarified that no tram was involved. Tram traffic was severely affected by the accident and the white tent set up by the police is in the immediate vicinity of the tracks.
The clarification of the boy’s cause of death is being carried out by the Institute for Forensic Medicine, as the city police announced. Relatives, passers-by and emergency services were given psychological care. (sda)
