Pre-Christmas connections from Prague in Moravia are almost sold out. Carriers are adding seats and entire routes — ČT24 — Czech Television
“Connections in the direction of the strongest demand for transportation, which is the direction from Prague before Christmas, are now completely sold out,” describes the situation, spokeswoman for RegioJet Alexandra Janoušek Kostřicová. The busiest are the connections on December 22 and 23.
Also according to Czech Railways spokesman Lukáš Kubát, some trains of the state carrier are already fully booked or have the last few seats left. “These are SC Pendolino Košičan and EN Slovakia connections just before the holidays in the direction of Slovakia,” Kubát clarifies.
Leo Express also offers the last available seats. “Some connections are already almost sold out,” says company spokesperson Emil Sedlařík.
More places, connections and cars
Carriers therefore add additional places or entire connections at the last minute for the period of the busiest dates, most often on routes between Prague and Moravian cities.
České dráhy will add more cars to its classic trains, so two days before Christmas the carrier will offer several hundred extra seats. Significantly more places will also go on sale for the end of the Christmas holidays on January 1 and 2.
The RegioJet company is increasing the capacity of train connections by fifteen to twenty percent until January 2. For example, on Thursday, December 22, according to its website, the carrier added two additional connections on the Prague-Ostrava route, and five on the day before Christmas. But the connection is not the fastest. Passengers who want to get to the North Moravian metropolis will first have to take a bus to Brno and then a train to Ostrava.
