Not even Violet’s extended hand can ensure peace in Prague | iRADIO
Naivety can be cute sometimes, but it doesn’t fit in politics. “Expect plenty of milk from the goat and nuts instead of bay leaves,” Asians say to her. What else but naivety and the height of unprofessionalism from the representatives of the Prague coalition Together was displaced a minority government over the metropolis based on a narrow majority with the opposition movement ANO?

Especially when everyone knew that the representative for Spolu is the self-made Hana Kordová Marvanová, who places a higher value than party loyalty…
More than twenty years ago, she sealed the new coalition cabinet of the ČSSD, KDU-ČSL and the Freedom Union, which she led in the period 2001 to 2002. Now she again rejected the Spolu and ANO voting block during the election of a new mayor.
Hana Marvanová was supposed to go to the prestigious Spolu in Prague. That is why she was placed second on the list of candidates, from which she then reached first place thanks to preferential votes.
At the same time, she was elected as a senator for the Spolu coalition in the eleventh district of Prague.
When the Prime Minister and head of the ODS, Petr Fiala, ordered to make amends after the fiasco of his fellow parties in Prague, he was undoubtedly aware that the center-right voters in Prague were more comfortable with Hana’s principles than the compliments that exchange candidates for the mayoral chain with Spolu Bohuslav Svoboda and the leader of the ANO movement Patrik Nacher The Marvans. So again, it’s up to the co-op to copy the government’s floor plan.
Departure of the Pirates to the opposition?
The party leaders sitting in Strakovce have been calling for it across the republic since the municipal elections. But even on their part, it is a piece of naivety, as shown by the example of a number of regional and half of statutory cities.

Where they don’t have the bumblebee Babiš, ANO tends to be a prized bride. Already because it has a program that is closer to the conservatives than the free-thinking vision of the Pirates.
In Prague, Spolu and ANO also manage the second and fourth city districts. That’s why the Prague politicians did not give in twice to the appeals of their chiefs.
However, they cannot convince Hana Kordová Marvanová to submit a mandate, they will not find support from the Elders and independents, and it would be inappropriate to ask for help from three representatives elected for the SPD, among them we can find an ex-member of TOP 09, an ex-member of Social Democracy and a former colleague of Cardinal Duka.
All that’s left is to tap the Pirates, Starosts and maybe Prague itself one more time.
Petr Fiala mentioned that “the will of both parties is needed, including the Prague Pirates and STAN”. But good will is not enough.
Concessions must also be made – for example, Spolu accepts such a power arrangement, within which no party will be able to override its partners on its own.
Representatives of some municipalities have not established councils even three months after the elections. Among them is Františkovy Lázně

The situation would also benefit if the Bohuslav Svoboda and Zdeněk Hřib quarrels receded into the background.
Just a week ago, it seemed that the departure of the Pirates to the opposition in Prague could be a harbinger of their fate at the national level as well.
After all, TOP 09 chairwoman Markéta Pekarová Adamová recently hinted to them that having three ministries with four MPs is an unusual luxury.
In the ranks of the Pirates, and even more among their youth, there is talk that it would be more beneficial for them to join the opposition than bloody compromises with the conservatives. Not right away, but over time, before the next race for parliamentary seats.
The Prague rift this trend could happen. Instead, however, Fiala diligently farms the coalition bed and lends a hand to the Pirates even in the metropolis.
He probably hopes that the Spolu negotiators won’t screw it up for him the second time around. It can be a bumpy road to a lean, unsalted coalition that includes members who will treat each other like cats and dogs. It is hard to say whether voters will be more satisfied with this arrangement. Unrest can also haunt Prague until the next election.
