Prague – On Sunday, December 25, the 14th annual Free Sports Week will begin in Prague, during which people can come and play sports for free in dozens of places. This gives you the opportunity to try a new sport. The event will last until Saturday, December 31. Interested parties can find a list of connected sports grounds at website.
“This year, too, Prague has prepared a small Christmas present for all sports enthusiasts in the form of a week of sports in all kinds of sports venues completely free of charge,” said acting councilor for education and sports Vít Šimral. “This event, popular with the people of Prague, is an ideal opportunity to try a new sport, do something for your health and get back in shape after Christmas feasting,” he added.
So far, 30 sports venues have signed up for the Free Sports Week project, others can still join. In the year, they could choose from 47 sports venues.
Usually, the greatest interest is in visits to swimming pools or winter stadiums. Residents of Prague will be able to try various sports disciplines, for example floorball, baseball, climbing, spinning or mini golf.
In the case of some sports venues, a telephone or online reservation is necessary due to their capacity. Some places will not be made available for free all week, but only on selected days and hours.
The free sports week is held in cooperation with the operators of sports facilities. For the first time, Prague offered a free sports field in 2008, when 15,000 people came.
