Monday December 12, 2022, when she came home from work and revealed herself in her house of Granada-sur-Garonne (Haute-Garonne)in the north of Toulouse, Elodie Olives came face to face with a… fox, who walked quietly on his terrace.
There remains this amazing photo taken, in a flash of a second, that it is shared on social networks.
Meeting a fox in a residential area is very rare in France. Being able to immortalize this moment is even more so.
Several unusual situations
On the other hand, it is not uncommon to make surprising encounters in Toulouse and its agglomeration in recent years. Wild boars, roe deer, bees : wildlife, increasingly present on the outskirts of the city, sometimes ventures into urban areas.
This has given rise to several unusual situations, and unfortunately, sometimes with dramatic outcomes for the “intruder” animal in recent years. A little throwback…
A Laie at the Virgin Megastor
Those who have lived in Toulouse for some time remember this.
At the time, the subject caused a stir throughout Toulouse, and even beyond! One morning on November 19, 2011, a wild boar had entered the Virgin Megastorelocated on the site of the current Zara rue d’Alsace-Lorraine, in the hypercentre of the Pink City.
Laie, totally distraught by this unprecedented urban incursion, had sown panic in the streets of Toulouse, Stock Exchange district, before being finally shot in the head in the Canal du Midi.
Here are two videos of the boar’s foray into Virgin in 2011:
The optician’s crisis
In February 2017, north of Toulouse, an optician from Gratentour (Haute-Garonne), north of Toulouse, who had seen a large wild boar enter his shop, located in the village.
The animal, visibly disconcerted to find itself trapped, had stayed a long time in the sign before finding the exit. Before leaving (without glasses) the store and returning to land more conducive to its development.

A wild boar goes to market at La Faourette
Gratentour, like many municipalities near Toulouse, sees the wild boars come to prowl around the houses and sometimes venture into the heart of the village.
In the morning of January 2022, in the immediate vicinity of the Faourette market, residents of the district dialed 17 because they had found themselves face to face… with a wild boar, which “was wandering near the market stalls”.
To neutralize the animal without doing any damage, the police had preferred to wash it off with a wolf hunting lieutenant. The boar had been killed on the spot.
Two deer at the pedestrian crossing in Muret
A cuter and less dramatic moment for the animals in question, two deer found themselves, in full confinement in 2020, wandering around downtown Muret.
An unusual scene that had been immortalized by passers-by.
A peloton of bees in the saddle on a VélôToulouse
Finally, it is also very rare but it has happened before that huge bee trials take their ease in the city center.
In May 2019, pedestrians witnessed an unusual scene in downtown Toulouse. On the Place Victor-Hugo side, after shopping, bees, no doubt attracted by the local terroir, had decided to have a good time at a VélôToulouse station.
After the queen, it is an entire swarm that has indeed landed then got into the saddle, and on stage, to the great astonishment of passers-by. Hundreds of bees had colonized a bicycle at this station located rue du Rempart, covering part of the bicycle.
A beekeeper was dispatched to the site to evacuate this bunch of bees.
