Use. 8 out of 10 aerospace companies fail to recruit in the South West

Even if we are still far from the pre-crisis level, the recovery is definitely there in the aerospace industry. Air traffic is picking up well and the order book ofAirbus keeps filling. Thursday, December 15, 2022, the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee) unveiled the results of its survey on the aeronautics and space sector in the Greater Southwest (Occitania and New Aquitaine).

We learn that the turnover of the aerospace sector started to rise again in 2021 (+6%). As a reminder, it was down sharply in 2020 (-33%). A direct consequence of the upheaval linked to the Covid.
If these 2021 data are positive, the sector has not yet returned to its pre-crisis level. 2021 revenue remains 30% lower than 2019.
“No sector has fully recovered its pre-crisis level of activity. turnover is no longer very far from this level (respectively – 4% and – 2%).

To cope with this gradual return to activity, companies must hire. “In 2022, 76% of companies in the aeronautics and space sector have recruited or qualified to recruit salaried staff. Nearly 80,000 aerospace employees in Occitania
In 2021, Occitanie had 78,427 employees dedicated to aeronautics and space activity. Unsurprisingly, the vast majority of them are in Haute-Garonne (66,964 people).

Companies in the sector are struggling to recruit. They are 8 out of 10 encounter difficulties. And this, what are the sector of activity, the size of the company or the area of recruitment targeted. “Overcoming recruitment difficulties is one of the major challenges that the aerospace sector must face in this context of the resumption of activity”, concluded INSEE.
