Homeless people will receive a Christmas treat in Prague on Christmas Day. The Archdiocesan Charity, the Salvation Army, and the Prague 1 district will host the needy. Christmas Eve food will be served, such as potato salad with carp or schnitzel and fish soup. The serving mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates) will also pour the fish soup on Friday, December 23. The festive Czech meal is served from 11:00 a.m. on the Old Town Square, said Hana Tietze, spokeswoman for Taiko, which is the organizer.
The pouring of Christmas soup by the mayor is returning to Prague after a two-year coronavirus break. In the Karlín Asylum House of St. Teresa the Archdiocesan Charity of Prague is preparing a Christmas Eve dinner for homeless people. The meeting will begin with mass on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the Asylum House of St. Teresa.
The Municipal District of Prague 1, together with the Association of Citizens and Friends of Malá Strana and Hradčany and the Association of the New Town of Prague, organizes a “Christmas Day” soup pouring, starting at 11:00 a.m. in Kampá.
At the same time, the Prague 1 Social Services Center is organizing a Christmas lunch for seniors in Malostranská beseda. Invited seniors from Prague 1, who would otherwise spend the holidays alone, can celebrate Christmas here right on Christmas Day.
